True pouty lips in adults are a rarity! Not all full lips can be labeled as “pouty lips”. Pouty lips have a very particular look. Recognize the celebrities below? It is Mick Jagger and his daughter, Georgia May Jagger. They both have natural, full and beautiful pouty lips. To have pouty lips, the area under the nose and the upper lip must be very thick and full. As a result, they exhibit great definition and protrusion of the philtrum* and the Cupid’s bow*.  Currently, all surgeons agree they cannot replicate this look using lip injections or surgery!

The pouty lips look is commonly observed in babies, children, and adolescents. They may not have full lips like Mick Jagger and Georgia May Jagger, but they can still possess the pouty lips features.  If you are blessed with the beautiful, naturally pouty lips in adulthood, you will look younger than your chronological age. Why? The pouty lips characteristics will keep your face child-like looking.

Let’s look at a few more examples of pouty lips. The profiles of the faces below possess a convex shape in the lower third of the face- They are not flat. As we age, this portion of the face gets flatter and longer. Researchers confirms that if you have full pouty lips, you are going to look 10 years younger even if you have gray hair and wrinkles.

Remember, there is a big difference between full lips and full pouty lips. When you take away the thickness (projection) of the philtrum area, the full lips alone give you the classic “duck lips look!”
