Tips on How To Remove Smoker’s Lines CandyLipz June 28, 2015 How To Lip Plumping 3 Comments SMOKER’S LINES You do not have to be a smoker to get smoker’s lines. Everyone eventually gets them. If you smoke, you increase your risk of getting smoker’s lines by at least 50% compared to your non-smoker counterparts and you have voluntarily cut your life short by 10 years. Regardless of the known risks of smoking, 47 percent of men and 12 percent of women worldwide smoke like a chimney. Researchers have confirmed that smokers synthesize 20% less collagen in the body compared to non-smokers. Take a look at a pair of identical twins here. The one on the left is a smoker and the one on the right is a non-smoker. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SMOKE? Researchers discovered that when you smoke, the tobacco poisons suffocate your skin. Just imagine someone is smothering you! If you are a heavy smoker, the smothering can persist throughout a large portion of your day. Let’s see what will happen when you lit that cigarette! The cigarette’s temperature can reach 800°C which is equivalent to a burning room in a home. This high heat releases burnt tobacco chemicals into your body. Researchers found that immediately after you smoke, your facial temperature raises by 2 degree- a self-induced fever-like in minutes. This is a sign you are being smothered. Thousands of tobacco toxins invade your body. They choke your blood flow by causing your blood vessels to constrict. Some burnt chemicals even hijack your oxygen. When oxygen deprived, your cells cannot remove tobacco poisons from your body. The result? Under prolonged exposure to the trapped poisons in your tissues, your skin’s ability to produce collagen is damaged. As a consequence, you cannot heal and repair skin tissue. This leads to premature skin aging. Trivia: Dermatologists found premature wrinkles on the faces of smokers as young as 20. If you thought your wrinkles will not show up until your are in your middle age , you are wrong. METHODS TO REMOVE SMOKER’S LINES If you are looking for ways to get rid of your wrinkles, they can cost you thousands of dollars! With smoker’s lines, you may require more than one method to soften your wrinkles-especially if they are deep. Let’s look at available treatments and costs. All methods deliberately induce controlled skin injury to promote skin repair and restructuring to remove the unwanted wrinkles. METHOD 1: CHEMICAL PEELS The name “chemical peels” says what it does. It is going to peel away (eat away) a layer/s of your skin using a chemical/s. Chemical peels using weak to strong fruit acids are the most basic way to remove and soften wrinkles. The thickness of the tissue surrounding your mouth is approximately 2.26 mm. If you would like to know how thick that is, take a look at the diameter of your headset plug! Which chemical peel mixed treatments are best for you will depend how bad your wrinkles are. Wrinkles fall into 2 categories: fine lines and deeper furrows. Take a look at a schematic diagram of the skin below. There are 3 types of chemical peels. A superficial peel partially sloughs away the top layer of the skin- the epidermis- to soften your fine lines and improve skin texture. Medium and deep peels can reach half way deep into your living tissue- the dermis- where there are blood capillaries, nerve endings, hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and collagen producing cells. The injury causes by the medium to deep peels is similar to a second degree burn effect. The purpose of this injury is to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It is the only way to fill in tissues to reduce the appearance of the deep furrows. The possible negative consequences of deep chemical peels are scarring, slow healing cycle, and permanent skin discolorations. Some reported getting patches of white, bleached looking skin or a dark and uneven complexion. A) Superficial Peels: The common hydroxyl acid peels usually made from plant sources: glycolic acid (extracted from sugar cane), lactic acid (extracted from milk), malic acid (extracted from pears and apples), citric acid (extracted from oranges and lemons), tartaric acid (extracted from grapes), and salicylic acid ( willow bark). Your doctor may use one or a combo mix to treat your skin needs. There is no down time. UV radiation can induce hyper-pigmentation after your treatment. Make sure you wear protective gear before going out. COST: $100 to $300 a treatment. 2 to 3 treatments may be needed to resolve the wrinkles. B) Medium to Deep Peels: Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel is widely used for chemical peels. This treatment can be quite painful. Your whole face will be red, swollen, and will then scab. It can take months to fully recover. Your skin may be discolored for up to six weeks afterwards. COSTS: It ranges from $150 and up to $6000. Repeated treatments may be required to get the desired results. TCA PEEL DEMONSTRATION CAUTION: Make sure you go to an expert for your facial treatments. If you accidentally injure and damage your whole dermis skin layer- known as the living tissue, how will it produce the collagen and provide the necessary structural skin tissue to keep your skin beautiful? All individuals have different skin thickness on the face. The 2.26 mm is the average skin thickness around the mouth area. How thick the skin is will depend on your age, diet, lifestyle, and health. If someone is using a stronger than necessary chemical peel strength on the applied area, she/he may damage your skin permanently. METHOD 2: DERMABRASION FOR LIP WRINKLES This procedure “sands” the skin. The device has a sanding-like paper texture. Like chemical peels, the possible side effects may be scarring and permanent skin discoloration. COST: $1200. METHOD 3: LASER FOR SMOKER’S LINES If you are worried about the side effects of chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser treatments have higher margin of safety where the laser will only go deep enough to remove the wrinkles. Take a look at the laser demonstration here. You will get an idea of how laser works to remove the wrinkles. This method burns the top layer of your skin. In laser treatments, the emitted heat can reach as high as 175 degrees Fahrenheit (F). This is intensely HOT. Water boils at 212 degree F! There are many different types of laser treatments available today. Take a look at another laser method called Fraxel. It does not burn the top layer of the skin but it burns the bottom layer of your skin. Here is another example of laser treatment using radio frequency as a heat energy source to burn the lower layer of your skin. This method is known as Thermage. COSTS: The costs for these treatments may vary depending on the areas treated. They may range from $1500 to $5000. METHOD 4: LIP FILLER INJECTIONS You can use lip fillers to fill up cracks and deep furrows. COST: 1 syringe/average $500. You may need 1 to 2 syringes if you need lip injections at the same time. Repeated treatments are needed to maintain the look at least twice a year. METHOD 6: MICRO NEEDLING FOR LIP WRINKLES In this method, tiny punctures are created on the top layer of the skin as deep as 3 mm. Micro-needling has been clinically proven to stimulate collagen and elastin production which helps rejuvenate the skin. COST: $150 per session. 6-8 sessions are recommended. 3-4 days down time is expected. METHOD 7: FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE This is a method where tiny acupuncture needles are inserted in regions of the face to increase circulation and stimulate collagen production to reduce your wrinkles. COST: $100 per session. 10 sessions are needed to see the desired results. And I already see improvements in my lip lines as I use my lip line correcting serum when I plump. Love this product. Will never inject again. Thank you my candylipz." 4 Months CandyLipz User: Jenni P wrote, "No plumping since yesterday. If I plump before bed, my lips are still plump in the morning & thru most the day. They only go " down" when I've used my clarisonic Mia 2 & I scrub my lips as well. Then I plump again for 5 min , & before I go to bed for 5-10 min & my lips stay plump. I had really bad smoker's lines, after I quit! This device has gotten rid of almost all! Just one is noticeable & I'm sure with more use it will be gone! Like Botox! It's wonderful, painless & really does stay plump after continued use. I'm so thankful for it. I was skeptical to say the least. My lips were really tiny. But it WORKED!! Now they get too big for the device! I can only use it 1x for a few mins. Thank you all!" 4 Months CandyLipz User: Priscilla R. wrote, "I've been using candylipz for a few months now. I figured I'll just get a nice plump out of it. I didn't expect the lines in my lips to soften. I've been a smoker for about 5 years, and quit once I had my baby 7 months ago,and was left with lines on and around my lips. I didn't expect to see improvement on them, nor did it even cross my mind, but they have diminished. I use the plumper nearly 4 or 5 times a week, maybe 3 times a day at most. It last nearly 3 hours for me now. In the beginning about 30 minutes. I don't plump longer than 2-4 minutes. Sometimes it just takes a minute to get the results I like. A little goes a long way for this advanced plumper. My lips are fuller naturally now. I'm so happy with my purchase! Thank you for your awesome product!" 3 Months CandyLipz User: Nita R wrote, "I plump 7 days a week twice daily for a total of 4 minutes. My plumped lips last for almost 2 hours but since I have been using CandyLipz daily, my lips have gotten much bigger and fuller. Amazing product. On a scale from 1 to 10 and 10 is the best improvement, I give CandyLipz a 10 on all points. My laugh lines and wrinkles around the mouth have almost disappeared. The shape of my Cupid's bow is thicker and higher. My lips are more symmetrical. I use the double-lobed green lip plumper. I can still see the lower-lip crease there all the time and I was not born with Angelina Jolie lips. Best invention and investment ever." 5 Months Candylipz User: Payton C wrote, "I plump in the morning before I do my makeup and at night before I go to bed (7 days a week). Usually for 4 minutes. They stay full for most of my school day (around 5 hours) so there is no need for me to do it more than that. I have major improvement in my lips, they stay fuller naturally now, especially my bottom lip. I have a small scar (indention) on my top lip that has never improved until I started using CandyLipz. Now it's barely noticeable. I started using CandyLipz because I never liked how much smaller my top lip was compared to my bottom. CandyLipz exceeded my expectations and has given me major confidence!" If you like this article: please join CandyLipz® Facebook Page by clicking on this link.
